Yami Bazan is a wife, mother, daughter, sister, administrator, educator, minister, athlete, just to name a few...but her preferred title is “Child of God”.
She has been involved in education (31+) at all levels (K-doctoral work) as teacher, faculty, administration, and leader. Additionally, she has been in ministry (27+) serving in leadership capacity (Associate Youth Director for Southeastern CA Conference) for 8 years, and as public- school chaplain, local church volunteer, and international speaker in conferences, retreats, and local churches. Her past 18 years have been in Higher Education serving as Vice-President for Student Affairs at La Sierra University, as an Associate Dean for Student Affairs at Loma Linda University Medical School, and most recently as president of Union Adventist University. She is an ordained minister who is passionate about living out her faith in such an authentic Spirit-breathed way, that it sets the record straight about God and the truth we hold so dear. She preaches Christ and Christ alone. “There is no other Truth can ever compete with His grace”. Her vision is that “we, the body of Christ, his beloved church and temple of the Holy Spirit, can begin to think and live lives so deeply connected to the Divine, that we can become the people that build bridges of reconciliation, forgiveness, healing, and love in every space we enter”. In her mind, there is only one way that we can do this difficult work, and that is to walk daily with God, allowing the life of our Christ Jesus to model our way forward, and daily surrendering to the work of the Holy Spirit in our midst.
Yami is married to Daniel (34 years) and they share a smart, musical and funny son, Danny, who is currently pursuing his Neuroscience doctoral degree at UC Berkeley.
